Amman, April 20, 2025 – Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Al Gharaibeh, General Director of the Vocational Training Corporation, Leaders International for Economic Development (LI) signed a strategic agreement today with the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) to implement a series of soft and technical training programs across key governorates, including Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, and Mafraq.
This partnership is part of the “Skills4Work II” project, supported by the European Regional Development and Protection Programme for Jordan and Lebanon (RDPP III), a joint European initiative funded by Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, the European Union, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
The agreement aims to implement a series of comprehensive soft and technical training programs in Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, and Mafraq. These areas are characterized by high unemployment and limited economic opportunities, particularly among youth and vulnerable populations. The project focuses on enhancing employability, empowering communities, and strengthening the institutional capacities of vocational training centers across Jordan.
Through this collaboration, more than 700 young men and women, primarily Jordanians (64%) and Syrians (34%), will benefit from targeted training, mentorship, and job placement opportunities. With a strong emphasis on youth under 35 and female participation, the project addresses the pressing need for market-relevant skills, particularly in the service and industrial sectors.
As part of the agreement, LI will support the VTCs through specialized capacity-building programs, knowledge exchange initiatives, and enhanced networking opportunities. These interventions are designed to increase institutional responsiveness and foster stronger integration with private sector stakeholders.
The training programs are tailored to reflect local labor market needs and will foster greater integration between public training institutions and private sector employers. In addition, the agreement includes a range of capacity-building activities, knowledge exchange initiatives, and networking opportunities to enhance institutional responsiveness and adaptability.
Over the next two years, the “Skills4Work II” project will also support more than 40 small and medium-sized enterprises through tailored support and linkages to trained talent. This initiative reflects Leaders International’s broader mission to align education with real-world demands, foster inclusive economic participation, and empower communities to thrive through sustainable development.
