Creating New Economic Opportunities for Communities along the Southern Jordan Trail
Shiraka supports the development of income-generating tourism activities at Jordan trail, from Karak to Aqaba, while improving the livelihoods among community members and households that reside along the trail. Viable economic opportunities and micro businesses have been identified, developed, and promoted to deliver community-based experiences for inbound tourists.
The Jordanian private sector was also involved in providing necessary technical support to micro and small businesses and initiatives through volunteer mentors. Those experienced mentors, with the help Leaders International, has helped increase the efficiency, productivity, and exports of business initiatives across the trail.
In partnership with the Jordan Trail Association, the project has raised awareness for around 250 local community members, increased operational capacity for dozens of enterprises, and boosted bookings on the trail by %150.
