TANIT: Civil Society for Innovative and Inclusive Alternative Tourism in Tunisia

TANIT: Civil Society for Innovative and Inclusive Alternative Tourism in Tunisia

The TANIT project strategically empowers civil society organisations (CSOs) to act as influential advocates for sustainable and alternative tourism in Tunisia. By building CSOs’ capacities, TANIT positions them as key players lobbying for a diversified and responsible tourism model that supports local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and create new jobs. This empowerment actively contributes to establishing public policies in favour of the development and promotion of sustainable tourism.

In response to challenges in Tunisia’s tourism sector, TANIT addresses the urgency of curating diversified offerings beyond traditional holidays to preserve Tunisian wealth and heritage and reduce the increasing pressure on the environment, particularly in coastal areas.

Aligned with international cooperation initiatives and inspired by successful project models, TANIT aspires to promote sustainable tourism routes and drive employment opportunities in inner regions. This approach ensures a collective effort, contributing to the goal of promoting sustainable tourism and socio-economic development in Tunisia.
